Clearly looks at a photo of your face. This page explains exactly what happens to it, what we keep, who else sees it, and how to make all of it go away.

Last updated September 17, 2026

The short version. Your full-resolution selfie is sent to Anthropic to be scored, then deleted. What stays behind is a small thumbnail and the numeric scores, so your progress view works. We do not sell your data, your photos are never used to train any model, and you can delete everything from inside the app at any time.

Face Data

What we collect. When you take a scan, the app captures a selfie of your face. The app uses Google’s ML Kit on your device to detect a face for framing; no facial-recognition template or biometric identifier is created or stored.

How we use it. Your selfie is used only to generate your skin scores and personalized routine and to show your progress over time. We never use face data for advertising, identification, or any purpose other than providing the app’s features.

Who receives it. Your selfie is sent to Anthropic, PBC (the provider of the Claude AI model) to generate your scores, and is stored with Supabase, Inc., our hosting provider. Anthropic does not use data sent through its API to train its models. We do not sell face data and do not share it with any other third party.

Retention. The full-resolution selfie is deleted immediately after scoring completes (or fails). A small thumbnail is kept in your account so you can compare progress between scans. Thumbnails, scores, and all related data are deleted when you delete your account from Settings, or on request to support@get-clearly.com.

Where it is stored. Supabase servers in the United States.

Consent. Before your first scan the app asks for your explicit consent to send your selfie to Anthropic. You can decline, in which case no scan is performed and no face data is collected.

Who we are

The Clearly app is operated by Field View LLC (“Clearly”, “we”, “us”). This policy covers the Clearly iOS app and get-clearly.com. Questions, requests and complaints go to support@get-clearly.com, and we answer them.

What we collect

Account information

If you sign in with Apple, we receive an identifier and, depending on what you choose to share, an email address — which may be Apple’s private relay address. We use it to identify your account and to contact you about the service.

Selfies and thumbnails

The scan photo and the small thumbnail kept afterwards. This is face data, and the Face Data section above governs it.

Scores

Your overall score, the seven attribute scores, the per-zone scores and the written summary produced for each scan, with the date it was taken.

Onboarding answers

Your skin type, your goals, your current routine and similar answers. We use them to shape the routine the app builds for you. They are not health records in the clinical sense and we do not treat them as a basis for any medical decision.

Subscription status

Whether your subscription is active, which plan it is, and whether you are in a trial. This is handled for us by RevenueCat, Inc., which sits between the app and Apple’s billing. Apple takes your payment; neither we nor RevenueCat ever see your card number.

Product analytics

Which screens are used, which features are tapped, and crash and performance diagnostics, collected through PostHog, Inc. so we can find bugs and decide what to fix. We do not send your selfies, your thumbnails, your scores or your onboarding answers to PostHog.

Advertising attribution

We use the Meta SDK to learn which advertisement led to an install or a subscription, which is how we decide where to advertise. It receives app and device identifiers and the fact that an install or purchase happened. It does not receive your selfies, thumbnails, scores or onboarding answers. On iOS this is governed by App Tracking Transparency: if you decline when prompted, no tracking identifier is shared.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share only what each of these providers needs to do its job, under contract, and none of them may use your data for its own purposes:

  • Anthropic, PBC — receives your scan selfie to generate your scores. Anthropic does not use data sent through its API to train its models.
  • Supabase, Inc. — our hosting and database provider. Stores your account, thumbnails, scores and onboarding answers, on servers in the United States.
  • RevenueCat, Inc. — manages subscription state. Receives an account identifier and your purchase status.
  • PostHog, Inc. — product analytics and diagnostics. Receives usage events, never scores, answers or images.
  • Meta Platforms, Inc. — advertising attribution, through the Meta SDK. Receives install and purchase events and device identifiers, never scores, answers or images.
  • Apple — sign-in, push notifications and all billing.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect our rights or someone’s safety.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell your personal information or your face data.
  • We do not share your photos, thumbnails or scores with advertisers.
  • We do not use your photos to train machine-learning models.
  • We do not create or store a facial-recognition template or any other biometric identifier.
  • We do not post anything on your behalf. Share images are generated on your device and go only where you send them.

How long we keep things

  • Full-resolution scan selfies: deleted immediately after the scan is scored, or after it fails.
  • Thumbnails, scores and summaries: kept for as long as your account exists, because that is what your progress is made of.
  • Account and onboarding answers: kept for as long as your account exists.
  • Analytics and diagnostic events: kept for a rolling retention window and then discarded.

When you delete your account, we delete the above. Backups roll off on their own schedule, normally within 30 days.

Deleting your data

Open the app, go to Settings, and tapDelete account and all data. This removes your account, your thumbnails, your scores, your routine and your onboarding answers. There is no separate request to file and no waiting period. If you would rather we did it for you, email support@get-clearly.com and we will.

Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription — Apple bills that, so cancel it in your Apple Account settings as well.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. The delete control in the app covers the main one; for anything else, write to support@get-clearly.com and we will respond within the period the applicable law allows. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

Clearly is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access to production systems is restricted, and scan selfies are deleted at the point of scoring precisely so there is less to protect. No system is perfect, and we will tell you promptly if something happens that affects you.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top, and we will tell you in the app before any change that materially reduces your protections takes effect.
